Phi Iota Alpha announced at the National Convention that our new national philanthropy is UNICEF. UNICEF stands for the United Nations Children's Fund. Join our Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Online team to celebrate 60 years of The Original Kids Helping Kids campaign. There are 6.7 billion people in the world. About a third of them 2.2 billion are children. Half of the 2.2 billion children 1 billion children do not have access to adequate food, safe drinking water, healthcare, shelter and education. Over the past 60 years children across America have raised $160 million through Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF to end the needless suffering of their more vulnerable peers around the globe. Phi Iota Alpha celebrates our 79th Anniversary with our National Convention. This year the host city is the beautiful and modern Dallas, TX. The convention events will take place throughout the city with main convention occuring at the Adolphus Hotel.

Phi Iota Alpha recognized in the September 2008 Edition of Latino University Magazine as the oldest existing Latino fraternity in the United States established in 1931 in Troy, NY at the Rensselear Polytechnic Institute.

In the summer of 2007, a brother from Alpha Gamma chapter in St. John's University had the opportunity to visit a town in earthquake-ravaged Peru. The town of Palomar had a school that was in substandard conditions, he was provided the opportunity to change the lives of hundreds of children in Peru. Thus sprung the Build-A-School project in Peru sponsored by Phi Iota Alpha's Alpha Gamma chapter and supported by the fraternity at a national level. The goal of this project is to raise enough funds to help pay for the building of a high-standard grade school in the town of Palomar in Peru.
